T Maze Test

The T maze test was mainly used in a spatial cognition task to evaluate discrimination learning by the animal's ability to differentiate between two symmetrical stimuli in a T-shaped maze.

Our company can provide our customers with traditional T maze experiments, T maze autonomous alternating experiments and other modified T maze experiments, and we can choose the most suitable research method according to our customers' experimental needs and provide rich indexes of characterization parameters.

Introduction of T Maze Test

  • The T maze is an elevated or enclosed device that is placed horizontally in a T-shape.
  • The T maze is mainly used to test discriminative cognition, working memory and reference memory in animals. Working memory is related to spatial localization ability and reference memory is related to cognitive learning ability.
  • The T maze test we offer can be used to study the effects of different brain regions on spatial memory, especially sensitive to the disruptive effects on the hippocampus. In addition, many drugs or toxins can enhance or impair the spatial cognitive memory of animals in the T maze.

The T Maze Test We Provide

We can provide customized T maze testing services according to the demands of our customers. Here, we mainly introduce traditional T maze test and T maze autonomous alternating test.

Experimental Flow Parameter Indexes Applications
Traditional T Maze Test (1) Acclimatization period (5 days): experimental animals were placed in a food-spreading maze.
(2) Forced choice training (4 consecutive days): training experimental animals to be forced to take food.
(3) Test training (2 consecutive days): closing one arm and forcing the experimental animal into the other arm to obtain a food reward; opening both target arms for a second training and recording the number of positive and negative choices.

  • Total Experiment Time
  • Total distance of the experiment
  • Number of left arm entries
  • Number of right arm entries
  • Left arm latency
  • Right arm latency
  • Main arm lag time
  • Distance of main arm movement
Drug Testing Brain area destruction assay
T Maze Autonomous Alternating Test (1) Adaptation period (5-7 consecutive days).
(2) Test period: both target arms were opened and the number of times the experimental animals alternately selected the two target arms during each inter-experimental period (10 training sessions) was recorded.
  • Ratio of the number of alternate selections to the total number of selections within the same experimental interval
